使い方

different from が基本

比較する相手を言うときは different from が最も標準的です。例: A is different from B. アメリカ英語では different than も使われますが、初級者は different from を覚えると安全です。イギリス英語では different to も見られます。
名詞の前でよく使う

different ideas、different countries、a different person のように、名詞の前に置いて「異なる〜」「別の〜」という意味でよく使います。
否定的とは限らない

different は単に「違う」という意味で、必ず悪い意味ではありません。文脈によって「個性的」「新鮮」という良い意味にもなります。

よくある間違い

誤: My opinion is different with yours.

正: My opinion is different from yours.

比較相手には通常 with ではなく from を使います。
