使い方

terms は「条件」の意味でよく複数形
契約やサービスの条件は、ふつう terms と複数形で使います。terms and conditions は「利用規約・契約条件」という決まった表現です。

term と word の違い
word は一般的な「単語」です。term は特定の分野・状況で意味が決まっている「用語」を表すことが多いです。たとえば medical term は「医学用語」です。

in terms of は便利な表現
in terms of ... は「〜の点で、〜に関して」という意味です。例: In terms of cost, this plan is better.（費用の点では、この計画のほうがよい。）
よくある間違い

terminus : 境界、限界、終点
Latin terminus が Old French terme を経て英語の term になりました。もともとの「境界・限界」という意味から、時間の区切りである「期間」、意味の範囲が定まった「用語」、合意で決めた「条件」という意味へ広がりました。
