性格、気質 人や動物が生まれつき持っている傾向や性格を表します。kind nature「優しい性格」のように使います。

使い方

「自然界」の意味ではふつう冠詞なし
自然全体を一般的に言うときは nature と言い、the nature とはしないのが普通です。ただし the nature of the forest「その森の性質」のように特定の性質を指す場合は the が使われます。

natural は形容詞、nature は名詞
nature は「自然・性質」という名詞です。「自然な」「当然の」と言いたいときは形容詞 natural を使います。例: It is natural to feel nervous.「緊張するのは自然なことだ。」

the nature of the problem「問題の本質」、the nature of the work「仕事の性質」のように、物事がどんなものかを説明するときによく使われます。
