  in good spirits は「元気で、機嫌がよく」、in low spirits は「元気がない」という意味です。また spirits は「蒸留酒」という意味にもなります。文脈で判断します。

  the spirit of the law/rule/agreement のように使うと、「法律・規則・合意の本来の意図」という意味になります。

よくある間違い
