使い方

• 「根」から広がる意味

  rootの基本イメージは「下で支えるもの」です。植物の根だけでなく、問題の原因、言葉の語根、文化や考えの起源などにも使えます。

• root for は「応援する」

  動詞のrootは「根を張る」という意味のほか、root for Aで「Aを応援する」という意味になります。cheer forに近い表現で、特にアメリカ英語で自然です。

• コンピューターのroot

  ITではroot userやroot accessのように、最上位の管理者権限を表します。日本語でも「ルート権限」と言います。

よくある間違い
