使い方

• line と row の違い

  line は「細い線」や「人が順番を待つ列」によく使います。row は「横一列に並んだ席・家・物」などに使うことが多いです。例: stand in line（列に並ぶ）、a row of seats（一列の席）。

• アメリカ英語の in line とイギリス英語の queue

  アメリカ英語では「列に並ぶ」を stand in line / wait in line と言います。イギリス英語では queue がよく使われ、stand in a queue / wait in a queue と言います。

• line は意味が多い基本語

  line は「線」から広がって、「列」「一行」「回線」「路線」「方針」などを表します。共通するイメージは『細長く続くもの』です。

よくある間違い

• 誤: I stood on line for coffee.
