名詞の dust は数えられないことが多い
dust は普通、不可算名詞として使います。a dust や many dusts とはあまり言わず、a lot of dust、some dust、a layer of dust のように表します。

dust the table は普通「テーブルのほこりを払う」という意味ですが、dust the cake with sugar は「ケーキに砂糖をふりかける」という意味です。with があると『何をふりかけるか』を表すことが多いです。
