使い方

• disagreement with と disagreement about／over

  人や考えに反対する場合は disagreement with をよく使います。話題について意見が分かれる場合は disagreement about または disagreement over を使います。例: disagreement with his opinion（彼の意見への反対）、disagreement about money（金銭についての意見の不一致）。

• argument との違い

  disagreement は『意見が合わない状態』を広く表し、冷静な話し合いにも使えます。argument は『口論』の意味が強く、感情的な言い合いを表すことが多いです。

• 不可算にも可算にも使う

  一般的な『意見の不一致』は不可算名詞として使えます。1つの具体的な対立や口論を言うときは a disagreement と言えます。

よくある間違い

• 誤: I have disagreement with you.

  正: I disagree with you.

  動詞で直接『あなたに反対です』と言う場合は disagree with を使うのが自然です。名詞 disagreement を使うなら We have a disagreement. のように a を入れることが多いです。

• 誤: There was a disagreement to the plan.

  正: There was disagreement about the plan.

  話題についての意見の不一致には about または over を使います。to はこの意味では自然ではありません。

• 誤: They made a disagreement yesterday.

  正: They had a disagreement yesterday.

  『口論した、意見が合わなかった』は have a disagreement が自然です。make a disagreement とは普通言いません。
