使い方

detail と details の違い
detail は「1つの細かい点」を表すことが多く、details は「複数の詳しい情報」を表すときによく使います。例: a small detail は「小さな点」、the details of the plan は「計画の詳細」です。

in detail は「詳しく」
in detail は副詞句で、「細かいところまで詳しく」という意味です。explain in detail、discuss in detail、describe in detail などの形でよく使います。

動詞 detail はややフォーマル
detail を動詞で使うと「詳しく述べる」という意味になり、レポート、記事、契約書などでよく見ます。日常会話では explain や describe のほうが自然な場合もあります。
よくある間違い

explain は explain something to someone の形を使います。また、複数の情報を指す場合は details が自然です。
