remonstrate
抗議する、異議を唱える 決定・行動・状況などに対して、強く、しかし比較的きちんと理由を述べて反対すること。日常会話よりも文章や改まった場面で使われます。
強くいさめる、注意して説得する 人に対して、その行動がよくないと強く言い、考え直すように促すこと。多くの場合 remonstrate with someone の形で使います。
〜だと強く主張して反対する remonstrate that ... の形で、相手の判断や方針に対して『〜だ』と理由を述べて反論すること。

とてもフォーマルな語
remonstrate は protest や object より硬い語で、日常会話ではあまり使われません。新聞記事、文学、公式な抗議、改まった説明で見かけます。

『人に抗議する・人をいさめる』という意味では remonstrate with someone が自然です。例: She remonstrated with him about his behavior.

remonstrate against a decision は『決定に反対する』、remonstrate about a problem は『問題について抗議する』、remonstrate that ... は『〜だと主張して反対する』という形です。
