placeとの違い
placeは「場所」を広く表す日常的な語です。positionは、他の物との関係や正確な位置、配置、立場を意識するときによく使います。

仕事の意味ではやや丁寧
jobよりpositionのほうが少しフォーマルで、求人・履歴書・ビジネスの文脈でよく使われます。

意見の意味ではonを使う
「〜についての立場」は position on ... と言います。例: our position on climate policy（気候政策についての私たちの立場）。
よくある間違い

「職に応募する」は apply for a position が自然です。apply to は会社・学校など応募先に使うことが多いです。

「問題についての立場」は position on an issue と言うのが自然です。
