日本語の「オリエンテーション」との違い
日本語では主に学校や会社の説明会を指しますが、英語の orientation は「向き」「方向性」「性的指向」「見当識」など、より広い意味で使われます。

orientation to は「〜への慣れ・導入」、orientation for は「〜のための説明会」という意味で使われやすいです。例: orientation to college life、orientation for new employees。

sexual orientation は「性的指向」という意味で、人がどの性別の人に恋愛的・性的にひかれるかを表す中立的で一般的な表現です。
