notwithstanding the fact that
〜という事実にもかかわらず
notwithstanding
〜にもかかわらず 問題・条件・反対意見などがあっても、それに影響されずに何かが起こることを表す、かなりフォーマルな言い方です。despite や in spite of に近い意味です。
それにもかかわらず、それでもなお 前に述べた内容を認めたうえで、それとは反対または意外な結果を述べるときに使います。文章語・法律文書・改まった説明でよく見られます。
〜であるにもかかわらず notwithstanding that ... の形で、後ろに文を続けます。現代英語ではかなり硬く、法律・契約・公式文書で使われることが多いです。日常会話では although や even though の方が自然です。
