使い方

• contradiction と conflict の違い

  contradiction は、発言・考え・事実などが論理的に同時に成り立たない「矛盾」を表します。conflict は、人・意見・予定・利益などの「対立」や「衝突」を広く表します。

• よく使う形

  There is a contradiction between A and B（AとBの間に矛盾がある）、be in contradiction to/with ～（～と矛盾している）、a contradiction in terms（言葉自体が矛盾している表現）などの形でよく使います。

• 発音の注意

  アクセントは後ろ寄りの -dic- の部分にあります。con-tra-DIC-tion のように発音します。

よくある間違い

• 誤: There is a contradiction of his words and actions.

  正: There is a contradiction between his words and actions.

  2つのものの間の矛盾を言うときは、基本的に contradiction between A and B を使います。

• 誤: His words are contradiction.
