脅す、脅迫する 相手を怖がらせるために、危害を加える、罰を与える、悪いことをするなどと言うこと。
危険にさらす、脅かす 人・物・状況などに悪い影響や危険を与える可能性があること。
〜しそうになる、〜の恐れがある 悪いことや困ったことが起こりそうな状態を表す。多くの場合 threaten to do の形で使う。

threaten to do の形
「〜すると脅す」と「〜しそうである」の両方に使えます。人が主語なら脅迫の意味になりやすく、天気・状況などが主語なら『〜しそうだ』という意味になりやすいです。

threaten と warn の違い
threaten は相手を怖がらせたり圧力をかけたりする言い方です。warn は危険や問題を前もって知らせることで、必ずしも相手を脅す意味ではありません。

目的語の使い方
『人を脅す』は threaten someone、『人の安全・生活などを脅かす』は threaten someone's safety/life/future のように使います。
よくある間違い
