superficial
表面的な、外側だけの 物や問題の表面だけに関係していて、深い部分や本質には関わらないことを表します。
浅い、深みのない 考え方、知識、会話、人への見方などが深くなく、重要な点まで考えていないことを表します。多くの場合、やや否定的に使います。
一見の、見かけだけの 最初に見たときは似ている、または正しく見えるが、詳しく見ると本質的には違うことを表します。

superficial は「表面だけで深くない」という意味なので、人の考え方や説明に使うと「浅い」「本質を見ていない」という批判的な響きになりやすいです。

shallow との違い
shallow も「浅い」という意味ですが、superficial は「表面だけを見ていて本質に入っていない」というニュアンスが強いです。会話・分析・理解などにはどちらも使えますが、superficial のほうが少し硬めです。

けがには「深刻ではない」の意味
a superficial cut や a superficial wound は、皮膚の表面に近い浅い傷を意味します。この場合は必ずしも強い否定的な意味ではありません。
