使い方

• 名詞では数えられる

  strap は普通、数えられる名詞です。a strap、two straps のように使います。

• 固定する相手には to を使いやすい

  「AをBに固定する」は strap A to B が自然です。例: strap the bag to the bike（バッグを自転車に固定する）。

• strap on と strap in

  strap on はヘルメットや道具などを「装着する」、strap in は車や乗り物で「ベルトで体を固定する」という場面でよく使います。

よくある間違い

• 誤: Please strap your seat belt.

  正: Please fasten your seat belt.

  seat belt には動詞 fasten を使うのが最も自然です。strap yourself in は「自分をベルトで固定する」という意味で使えます。

• 誤: I strapped the box on the bicycle.

  正: I strapped the box to the bicycle.

  物を何かに固定する場合は、on より to が自然です。strap A to B で「AをBに固定する」という形になります。
