使い方

• stem from は「〜から生じる」

  stem from は原因や起源を言う表現で、主語には問題・感情・行動などがよく来ます。from の後に原因を置きます。

• stem the tide は比喩表現

  stem the tide は直訳すると「潮の流れを止める」ですが、実際には「悪い流れを食い止める」という意味で使われます。

• 植物の stem と trunk の違い

  stem は草花や植物の茎に広く使えます。trunk は木の太い幹を指すことが多いです。

よくある間違い
