使い方

• owner of の形が基本

  「〜の持ち主」は owner of ... と言います。例: the owner of the house（その家の所有者）。owner for ... とは普通言いません。

• person who owns より自然

  日常会話では person who owns the shop より the shop owner や the owner of the shop のほうが簡潔で自然です。

• 会社では owner と manager が違うことがある

  owner は所有している人、manager は管理・運営を担当する人です。同じ人の場合もありますが、必ず同じではありません。

よくある間違い

• 誤: He is the owner for the house.

  正: He is the owner of the house.

  「〜の所有者」は owner of ... を使います。

• 誤: The owner is my bag.

  正: The owner of this bag is me.

  owner は「持ち主」という人を表す名詞です。「持ち主は私です」と言う場合は owner of this bag のように表します。

• 誤: She is an owner of dog.

  正: She is a dog owner.

  一般的に「犬の飼い主」は a dog owner と言います。one dog を強調する場合は the owner of a dog と言えます。
