focus on の形が基本
動詞の focus は「focus on + 名詞・動名詞」の形でよく使います。例: focus on work（仕事に集中する）、focus on learning English（英語学習に集中する）。

名詞では in focus / out of focus が便利
写真や映像で「ピントが合っている」は in focus、「ピントが合っていない」は out of focus と言います。

attention との違い
attention は「注意」そのものを表し、focus は「注意が向かう中心」や「集中した状態」を表すことが多いです。

Latin
focus : 炉、暖炉
Latin の focus はもともと「炉・暖炉」を意味しました。のちに光学で光や像が集まる点を指すようになり、そこから「注意や活動が集まる中心」という意味にも広がりました。
