使い方

• edition と version の違い

  edition は本・新聞・雑誌・商品など、出版・発行・発売された「版」によく使います。version はソフトウェア、説明、物事の言い方など、より広く「バージョン」を表します。

• countable noun として使う

  edition は数えられる名詞です。通常は an edition, the latest edition, two editions のように使います。

• first edition の意味

  first edition は本などの「初版」を意味します。収集品として価値がある場合にもよく使われます。

よくある間違い

• 誤: I bought latest edition of the magazine.

  正: I bought the latest edition of the magazine.

  latest edition のように特定の版を指すときは、ふつう the を付けます。

• 誤: This software has a new edition.

  正: This software has a new version.
