• 現代では connection が標準

  connexion は connection の別つづりで、現在はかなり古風です。特にアメリカ英語ではほとんど使われません。学校の作文、ビジネス文書、日常会話では connection を使うのが安全です。

• 発音は connection と同じ

  つづりは xio を含みますが、発音は connection と同じ /kəˈnek.ʃən/ です。x を強く読んで「クシ」と分けないように注意します。

よくある間違い

• 誤: I have a good connexion to the internet.

  正: I have a good connection to the internet.

  インターネット接続について現代英語で普通に書く場合は connection が自然です。connexion は古風なつづりなので、日常的なIT表現には向きません。

• 誤: There is a connexion in my phone charger.

  正: There is a problem with my phone charger connection.

  connexion は『関係・接続』という名詞ですが、機械の接続部分の問題を言うときも現代では connection を使うのが一般的です。
