使い方

• attendant と attendee の違い

  attendant は「係員・世話をする人」の意味が中心です。attendee は「参加者・出席者」で、イベントに参加する人を指します。会議の参加者は attendee、客を助ける係員は attendant が自然です。

• 形容詞の attendant は硬い表現

  attendant risks や attendant costs のように「付随するリスク・費用」という意味で使います。日常会話では accompanying や related のほうが分かりやすいことがあります。

• flight attendant は性別に中立

  flight attendant は「客室乗務員」を表す一般的で丁寧な言い方です。stewardess は古い・性別を限定する響きがあるため、現代英語では flight attendant がよく使われます。
