• tourist と traveler の違い

  tourist は主に観光目的で訪れる人です。traveler はより広く「旅をする人」を表し、仕事、長期旅行、移動中の人にも使えます。

• 形容詞としては名詞の前で使う

  tourist attraction（観光名所）、tourist information center（観光案内所）のように、tourist は名詞の前で「観光客向けの」という意味になります。

よくある間違い

• 誤: I am a tourism in Kyoto.

  正: I am a tourist in Kyoto.

  tourism は「観光業・観光」という名詞で、人を表しません。人には tourist を使います。

• 誤: Kyoto has many tourist spots for sightseeing tourists.

  正: Kyoto has many tourist attractions.

  tourist spot も通じますが、英語では tourist attraction がより自然でよく使われます。
