使い方

• sportでは「得点」と「点を取る」の両方

  scoreは名詞で「得点」、動詞で「得点する」として使えます。例: The score is 2-0.「スコアは2対0です」 / He scored a goal.「彼はゴールを決めました」。

• testではscoreとmarkの違いに注意

  scoreは「点数」全般に使えます。markは特にイギリス英語で「点、成績」の意味でよく使われます。アメリカ英語ではgradeもよく使われます。

• 音楽のscore

  scoreは音楽では「楽譜」「総譜」の意味になります。特にオーケストラなどで、複数の楽器パートが一緒に書かれた楽譜を指すことがあります。

よくある間違い

• 誤: He got score 80 in the test.

  正: He scored 80 on the test.

  動詞として使う場合はscore + 点数が自然です。アメリカ英語では「テストで」はon the testがよく使われます。

• 誤: The score is three to one points.

  正: The score is three to one.

  試合のスコアを言うときは、ふつうpointsを付けずにthree to oneのように言います。

• 誤: She scored a point in the piano score.

  正: She found a difficult passage in the piano score.
