結果、結末 何かが起こったあと、または何かをしたあとに生じること。原因や行動のあとに出てくる答え・状態を表す基本的な意味です。
成績、得点、試験結果 試験、試合、選挙、検査などで出た点数・順位・判定を表します。この意味では results と複数形で使うことも多いです。
結果として〜になる、〜を引き起こす result in の形で、ある原因や行動がある結果を生むことを表します。

result in と result from の違い
result in は「原因 → 結果」を表し、「〜という結果になる」という意味です。result from は「結果 → 原因」を表し、「〜が原因で生じる」という意味です。例: Heavy rain resulted in floods. は「大雨が洪水を引き起こした」、The floods resulted from heavy rain. は「洪水は大雨が原因で起こった」です。

as a result は「その結果」という意味のつなぎ表現です。文頭で使うときは、As a result, のようにカンマを置くのが一般的です。

試験結果、検査結果、選挙結果など、複数の数値や情報をまとめて言う場合は results が自然です。例: test results は「検査結果」または「試験結果」です。
