使い方

• outskirts が最も自然

  現代英語では、町や都市の外れを言うときは the outskirts of a city/town のように複数形で使うのが普通です。単数形 outskirt は方向や特定の端を強調するときに使われることがあります。

• 前置詞は on が多い

  「〜の外れに」は on the outskirts of ... が自然です。in the outskirts と言うこともありますが、学習者はまず on the outskirts of ... と覚えると安全です。
