誤解する、勘違いする 相手の言葉、説明、状況などを正しく理解せず、違う意味に受け取ること。
人の意図や気持ちを取り違える 相手が本当に言いたいことや気持ちを、悪い意味や別の意味として受け取ってしまうこと。

目的語を直接続けることが多い
misunderstand は他動詞としてよく使い、misunderstand the question（質問を誤解する）、misunderstand someone（人の言ったこと・意図を誤解する）のように使います。

misunderstand は、まったく分からないという意味ではなく、理解したつもりだが内容が間違っている場合に使います。
