程度、度合い ある状態・問題・影響などが、どれくらい大きいか、強いかを表す名詞です。特に the extent of ...「〜の程度」、to some extent「ある程度」の形でよく使います。
範囲、広がり 物事が及ぶ範囲、広がる領域、影響が届く範囲を表します。被害・土地・調査・権限などについて使われます。
限度、限界 何かがどこまで可能か、どこまで許されるかという限界を表します。to the extent that ...「〜する限りにおいて」、to what extent ...「どの程度まで」の形でも使われます。

extent of ... の形が多い
extent は単独でも使えますが、the extent of the damage「被害の程度・範囲」、the extent of the problem「問題の大きさ」のように of と一緒によく使います。

to some extent は「ある程度」という意味です。日本語の『ある程度は』に近く、完全には賛成・正しいとは言えないときに便利です。
