• 物理的な爆発にも比喩にも使える

よくある間違い

  正: The bomb exploded.

  explosion は名詞なので動詞として使えません。『爆発した』は動詞 explode の過去形 exploded を使います。

  正: There was an explosion in the factory.

  explosion は数えられる名詞として使うことが多く、単数なら an explosion が自然です。

• 誤: The explosion of sales was happened last month.

  正: The explosion in sales happened last month.
