使い方

• attorney と lawyer の違い

  アメリカ英語では attorney と lawyer はどちらも「弁護士」としてよく使われます。attorney はやや法律実務・裁判での代理を強く感じさせ、lawyer はより一般的な言い方です。

• イギリス英語での注意

  イギリスでは「弁護士」を表す一般語は lawyer で、職種としては solicitor や barrister がよく使われます。attorney はアメリカ英語ほど一般的ではなく、legal attorney や power of attorney など法的な文脈で見ます。

• 発音のポイント

  最初の a は弱く /ə/ と発音し、「ア」よりも短いあいまいな音です。強く読む部分は tor のところです。
