「物語の筋」と「陰謀」の違い
plot は中立的に「物語の筋」という意味でよく使います。一方、a plot to do something の形では「〜するための陰謀・たくらみ」という悪い意味になりやすいです。

土地を表すときは a plot of land や a building plot のように使うと自然です。plot だけでも通じますが、文脈がないと物語の筋と誤解されることがあります。
