ほとんどの、大部分の 人や物の数・量の中で、半分よりずっと多い部分を表す。数えられる名詞にも数えられない名詞にも使える。
大部分、ほとんど 前に出た人・物・量などを受けて、「その大部分」という意味で使う。後ろに名詞を置かずに使える。
最も、いちばん 長めの形容詞や副詞の前に置いて、最上級を作る。通常は the most の形で使う。

most と almost の違い
most は「ほとんどの〜」「最も」という意味。almost は「もう少しで」「ほぼ」という副詞で、名詞の前に直接置いて「ほとんどの人」とは言えない。正しくは most people、または almost all people。

most of の後ろ
most of の後ろには the, my, these などで特定された名詞や代名詞を置くことが多い。例: most of the students, most of my friends, most of them。一般的な話なら most students のように of を使わない。

最上級では the most が基本
「最も〜」という最上級では、the most beautiful, the most carefully のように the を付けるのが基本。ただし所有格の後では my most important goal のように the は使わない。
