敵意のある、友好的でない 人や態度が冷たく、相手を嫌ったり攻撃しそうだったりする様子を表します。単なる「無愛想」より強い意味です。
反対している、強く否定的な 考え、計画、人などに対して強く反対する態度を表します。よく hostile to や hostile toward の形で使います。
厳しい、危険な、不利な 場所や状況が人にとって安全でなく、生活・活動しにくいことを表します。hostile environment「厳しい環境、敵対的な環境」とよく言います。

hostile は「少し冷たい」より強い
hostile は、相手に対する敵意・攻撃性・強い反対を含む語です。単に親切でないだけなら unfriendly の方が自然です。

前置詞は to / toward が自然
「〜に敵対している、〜に強く反対している」は hostile to または hostile toward をよく使います。hostile against は意味は通じることがありますが、一般には不自然です。
