使い方

• 「例外」は countable noun

  exception は数えられる名詞です。1つなら an exception、複数なら exceptions と言います。

• with the exception of の使い方

  with the exception of ... は「〜を除いて」という少し丁寧な表現です。日常では except for ... もよく使われます。

• make an exception は自然な表現

  「例外にする」は make an exception と言います。do an exception とは言いません。

• take exception to は意味が変わる

  take exception to ... は「〜を例外にする」ではなく、「〜に腹を立てる」「〜に異議を唱える」という熟語です。

よくある間違い

  with the exception of はまとまった表現です。短く言うなら Everyone can enter except children. も自然です。

  exceptions は複数形なので、動詞は are にします。1つだけなら There is no exception. と言えます。
