頂点、絶頂 活動、変化、感情などがいちばん強くなる段階を表します。物語以外にも使えます。
最高潮に達する、最高潮で終わる 出来事や物語などが、いちばん重要で盛り上がる段階に達することを表します。

climax は名詞なので、形容詞のように “was climax” とは言いません。「最高潮に達した」は “reached its climax” が自然です。

名詞では “the climax of the story”「物語のクライマックス」、 “the climax of the event”「イベントの最高潮」のように of とよく一緒に使います。

peak は数値・人気・山などの「最高点」に広く使えます。climax は特に物語や出来事の流れの中で、感情や緊張が高まった「盛り上がりの頂点」を表すことが多いです。

“The show climaxed with a dance performance.” のように、何によって最高潮になったかを表すときは climax with をよく使います。
よくある間違い

正: The movie reached its climax.
climax は名詞なので、形容詞のように “was climax” とは言いません。「最高潮に達した」は “reached its climax” が自然です。
