    train は長距離や都市間を走る『電車・列車』全般に使えます。tram は主に町の中を走る小型の路面電車を指します。

  • アメリカ英語での言い方

    アメリカでは町を走る路面電車を streetcar や trolley と呼ぶことが多いです。ただし tram も空港や観光地の短距離乗り物、または aerial tramway などで使われます。

よくある間違い

  • 誤: I went to the museum by a tram.

    正: I went to the museum by tram.
