使い方

• 順番を表すときは ten ではなく tenth

  ten は数そのもの「10」、tenth は順番「10番目」です。たとえば「10階」は the tenth floor です。

• 多くの場合 the と一緒に使う

  特定の順番を表すときは the tenth question, the tenth day のように the を付けることが多いです。

• 分数では a tenth / one tenth

  「10分の1」は a tenth または one tenth と言います。数字で書くと 1/10 です。

よくある間違い

• 誤: I live on the ten floor.

  正: I live on the tenth floor.

  階や順番を表すときは基数 ten ではなく序数 tenth を使います。

• 誤: Today is my ten birthday.

  「10歳の誕生日」は10回目の誕生日なので tenth birthday と言います。
