〜に触れる、〜について少し言う 会話や文章の中で、人・物・出来事などについて短く言うこと。詳しく説明するというより、「話題に出す」という意味です。
言及、話に出すこと 人や物事について短く話したり書いたりすること。多くの場合、a mention of ... や no mention of ... の形で使います。
〜と言っておく、ついでに言う 相手に知っておいてほしい情報を、会話の中で付け加えて言うときに使います。

使い方

mention は「短く話題に出す」
mention は、詳しく説明するよりも、会話や文章の中で少し触れるニュアンスです。詳しく話すなら explain や discuss を使うことが多いです。

mention about は普通は使わない
日本語の「〜について言う」に引きずられて mention about と言いがちですが、mention は他動詞なので mention the problem のように直接目的語を置きます。

not to mention の意味
not to mention ... は「〜は言うまでもなく」という表現です。例: The room is small, not to mention expensive.（その部屋は狭いし、高いのは言うまでもない。）。
