名詞としては usually “a descendant of someone/something” の形で使います。「〜の子孫」は “a descendant of my grandmother” のように of を使うのが自然です。

descendant は「後の世代の人」、ancestor は「前の世代の祖先」です。自分から見て祖父母より前は ancestors、自分の子や孫の世代は descendants です。
