使い方

• 冠詞は an を使う

  ATM は読み方が母音の音 /eɪ/ で始まるため、a ATM ではなく an ATM と言います。

• ATM machine は重複表現

  ATM の M は machine を表すので、ATM machine は直訳すると『automated teller machine machine』になります。日常で聞くことはありますが、学習者は ATM だけを使うと自然です。

• 小文字の atm との違い

  大文字の ATM は現金自動預け払い機です。チャットなどで小文字の atm は at the moment（今のところ）を表すことがありますが、意味が違います。

よくある間違い

• 誤: I used a ATM near the station.

  正: I used an ATM near the station.

  ATM は /eɪ/ という母音の音で始まるため、冠詞は a ではなく an を使います。

• 誤: I need to use an ATM machine.

  正: I need to use an ATM.

  ATM の M は machine の略なので、machine をもう一度付けると重複します。
