貸す 自分の物やお金を、あとで返してもらう約束で相手に使わせること。目的語には「貸す物」が来ます。

使い方

  • lend と borrow の違い

    lend は「貸す」、borrow は「借りる」です。視点が反対です。I lent him a book. は「私は彼に本を貸した」、I borrowed a book from him. は「私は彼から本を借りた」です。

  • 2つの基本文型

    lend someone something と lend something to someone の両方が使えます。例: She lent me money. / She lent money to me. ただし、代名詞だけの場合は She lent it to me. が自然で、She lent me it. は不自然です。

  • lend a hand

    lend a hand は「手を貸す、手伝う」というよく使う表現です。実際に手を貸すという意味ではなく、help と近い意味です。

よくある間違い

  • 誤: Can you borrow me your phone?

    正: Can you lend me your phone?

    borrow は「借りる」なので、相手に貸してほしいと頼むときは lend を使います。

  • 誤: I lent a book from my friend.

    正: I borrowed a book from my friend.

    from my friend は「友達から借りた」という意味なので、lend ではなく borrow が自然です。

  • 誤: She lended me some money.

    正: She lent me some money.

    lend の過去形・過去分詞は規則形の lended ではなく lent です。
