• 後ろは名詞

  in case of fire、in case of rain のように、of の後ろには名詞を置きます。文を続ける場合は in case を使います。

• just in case との違い

  in case of は『〜の場合には』、just in case は『念のため』です。形も意味も少し違います。

よくある間違い

• 誤: In case of it rains, we will stay home.

  正: In case it rains, we will stay home.

  文を続ける場合は of を入れず in case + 文にします。

• 誤: In case fire, use the stairs.

  正: In case of fire, use the stairs.

  名詞 fire を続けるときは of が必要です。
