使い方

記事の意味では an article about をよく使う
「〜についての記事」は an article about ... が自然です。専門的な内容なら an article on ... も使えます。

冠詞の article は文法用語
英語学習で article と言うと、a, an, the を指すことが多いです。日本語には同じ仕組みがないため、忘れやすい重要語です。

「品物」の意味では item のほうが日常的です。article は少し硬く、規則、契約、在庫、商品説明などで使われます。

article はラテン語 articulus に由来し、もともとは「小さく分けられた部分」の意味でした。そこから、文書の中の区分である「条項」や、文章の1つのまとまりである「記事」という意味に広がりました。
