使い方

• 順番には six ではなく sixth

  数そのものは six「6」ですが、順番を言うときは sixth「6番目の」を使います。例: the sixth floor「6階」、six books「6冊」。

• the と一緒に使うことが多い

  普通の名詞の前では the sixth floor, the sixth question のように the を付けることが多いです。ただし my sixth visit「私の6回目の訪問」のように所有格がある場合は the は不要です。

• 日付での使い方

  June sixth は「6月6日」という意味です。イギリス英語では the sixth of June という言い方もよく使われます。

• 分数では one sixth / a sixth

  「6分の1」は one sixth または a sixth と言います。名詞の前で形容詞的に使う場合は a one-sixth share のようにハイフンを使うことがあります。
