  • owner に近いが、店の種類が限定される

    shopkeeper は特に小さな店や個人商店の店主を指すことが多いです。大きな会社やチェーン店の経営者には owner, manager, business owner などが自然な場合があります。

  • アメリカ英語では storekeeper も使われる

    イギリス英語では shop が一般的なので shopkeeper が自然です。アメリカ英語では shopkeeper も通じますが、文脈によっては storekeeper や store owner が使われます。

  • ただの店員とは少し違う

    shopkeeper は店を所有・管理している人というニュアンスが強いです。レジを打つ従業員なら cashier、販売員なら shop assistant や sales assistant がより正確です。
