ninth

第9の、9番目の 順番が1番目から数えて9番目であることを表します。名詞の前に置いて使います。

使い方

  • 多くの場合 the と一緒に使う

    日付や順番を表すときは the ninth の形がよく使われます。例: the ninth of May（5月9日）、the ninth chapter（第9章）。ただし、ninth grade や ninth place のように the を付けない表現もあります。

  • nine と ninth の違い

    nine は数そのもの『9』、ninth は順番『9番目』を表します。例: nine students は『9人の生徒』、the ninth student は『9番目の生徒』です。

  • つづりに注意

    nine に -th が付くと ninth になり、最後の e は落ちます。nineth とは書きません。
