England は英国を構成する一地域です。the UK は the United Kingdom の略で、England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland を含みます。日本語で「イギリス」と言うとき、英語では文脈によって England ではなく the UK や Britain が自然な場合があります。

通常は the を付けない
国名・地域名としての England には通常 the を付けません。正しくは I live in England. です。ただし the England team のように、後ろに team などの名詞が続く場合は the が使われることがあります。
